Welcome to WiSH

Sailing Procedures

  • Sunday afternoon racing will continue as long as legally permitted.  Local Covid rules are in place for Warrington and St Helens so we are asking that spectators from those areas please stay away for the duration.

  • Access to the property for recreational sailing is still possible on a Sunday but please avoid being on the shoreline during race launch and recovery times.

  • Recreational sailing is also available on a Wednesday afternoon, when toilets are usually open.

Wigan and St Helens Sailing Club is located at Poolstock, on the beautiful Scotman's Flash. The Sailing Club is a merged club formed in April 2020 from Wigan Sailing Club and Pilkington Sailing Club.

The club has a friendly atmosphere and membership is open to everyone with an interest in sailing and related water-sports.

Sailing at the club takes place in a variety of boats including Enterprises, GP14s, Wayfarers, as well as Lasers, Solos and Mirrors.

We have GP14s, Enterprises, Lasers, Toppers and Optimist dinghies for the use of members and a galley providing hot and cold drinks as well as hot meals on club days.

There is regular racing supplemented by a healthy series of social events and trips including weekend visits to Abersoch, Coniston and Ullswater.

We make our facilities available to a number of other groups including Wigan Sea Cadets, Wigan Canoeing Group, Wigan Water Dragons (Dragon Boaters), as well as groups from the local nature reserve.

Whatever your budget or time commitments, we have the perfect membership option for you.
