Training Centre Courses 2026​
​Our Beginner Sailing courses are designed for all ages and abilities and are taught by qualified RYA instructors following the Adult and Junior RYA methods. These courses are an excellent way to start your sailing journey, whether you’re an adult or a junior, and they are structured to help you progress at your own pace.

BEGINNERS' COURSES, COST AND TIMES
This year’s training courses will start on 5th May and run through till mid-September on Tuesday evenings.

ADULTS
The adult courses will be a combination of RYA levels 1 & 2, Start Sailing and Basic Skills. These courses are aimed at novices who have no previous sailing experience.
The courses will run on Tuesday evenings, starting at 18:30 and finishing at about 21:00.
​The course is open to adults from 16 years of age upwards.

JUNIORS
The junior courses will be Stages 1 & 2 of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme.
These courses are aimed at novices who have no previous sailing experience.
The courses will run on Tuesday evenings, starting at 18:30 and finishing at about 20:30.
The courses are open to students aged 11 to 16 years old.
​COURSE COSTS
Adults over the age of 25 – Club membership £145 + course fee £120. Total cost £265
Adult 18 to 25 years of age – Club membership £120 + course fee £120. Total cost £240
Junior under 18 years of age - Club membership £65 + course fee £60. Total cost £125
Family – Club membership £185 + Course fees as above.
Example – Two adults and one child. Club membership £185 + course fees £120 x2 + £60. Total cost £485.
Example – One adult and two children. Club membership £185 + course fees £120 + 60 x 2. Total cost £425
Club membership runs from 1st March 2026 to 28th February 2027

Start sailing books and log books are included in the above prices. All equipment will be provided by WiSH SC.

Progression
Adults
Most adult students will complete Level 1 and Level 2 in a single season, or be very close to doing so by the end of the course.
Juniors
Some students may complete both Stage 1 and Stage 2 in a single season, while others may need a second season to complete Stage 2. Once Stage 2 is completed (usually by the end of the season), students can move into the intermediate group to begin work on Stage 3 and 4 the following season.​
What to expect
Come with an open mind and a willingness to meet new people! The course includes an RYA handbook and logbook for you to track your progress. Whether you're looking to sail recreationally or are aiming join in racing, our instructors will teach to your individual ability, ensuring you have the support and guidance needed to succeed.
